Appel Beton’s Largest Project Ever

30 April 2025

Our subsidiary Appel Beton will play a key role in the prestigious residential development Waldorp Four in The Hague.

Waldorp Four is being built using modular construction in collaboration with Team Modulair, which includes Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling, Schouten Techniek, and Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen. This building method speeds up construction time, reduces disruption, and minimises construction waste. Commissioned by Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen, Appel Beton will produce high-quality modular floors and wall panels (penants) for this project.

Waldorp Four is no ordinary development — with 1,171 homes and a height of 70 metres, it will be the largest and tallest modular residential building in the Netherlands. A groundbreaking project in terms of both scale and sustainability. For Appel Beton, it represents the largest assignment in the company’s history.

The project is being realised opposite the current Megastores in The Hague, right in the heart of the Central Innovation District (CID) — the city’s economic core, located between The Hague Central, Hollands Spoor, and Laan van NOI stations. Construction has already begun, with completion planned for mid-2028.

Sustainability, Comfort, and Diversity

The building will offer a mix of social housing, student residences, and mid-range rental homes. All units will meet the highest sustainability standards, including BREEAM-NL In-Use certification and an A+++ energy label. With Waldorp Four, we are not just building homes, but shaping the future of urban living. Appel Beton is proud to play a vital role in this achievement.
