Fully electric concrete mixer for De Hoop Betonmortel

24 February 2022

The delivery of a fully electrically powered concrete mixer to De Hoop Betonmortel in the near future means the start of the sustainable delivery of some of our ready-mixed concrete. This electric mixer not only benefits the air quality but also greatly reduces noise nuisance and enables us to put the idea of sustainable construction transport into practice.

The pilot project with an electrically powered concrete mixer trailer which De Hoop Betonmortel started two months ago has been so successful that the company has now decided to buy a fully electric concrete mixer.

As diesel engines on mixer trailers are no longer compliant with environmental requirements, they no longer match De Hoop Terneuzen's sustainability objectives.

In our group of companies, we pay a lot of attention to ecological developments in the Dutch province of Zeeland. Examples are De Hoop Terneuzen's involvement in various projects to ensure the concrete chain is truly circular. Our investment in 100 hectares of forest which are planted in collaboration with Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch forestry commission) also fits in with this policy and is part of our organisational objective to minimise our CO2 emissions and offset them where possible.

The intention to change the concrete sector's rolling stock to electric vehicles also fits in with this policy.
